Youth Camp
at Paradise Point

Paradise Point provides many summer camp options for young people from across the state. Lasting from a long weekend to a full week, youth camps are a time for coming together in a fun, safe, and spirit-filled camp adventure. Supported by a committed staff, the campers sing, play, swim, climb, worship and rest in a spectacular camp environment, miles from home within a new family community.

Beginner's Camp (6 and 7 year olds with an adult)

Our youngest campers, children entering Grades 1 and 2 in the fall, bring a parent, grandparent or guardian to camp with them. This three-night camp provides activities for all ages and helps acclimate the new camper to the Paradise Point camping experience. Adult campers marvel at how their young person makes decisions, takes risks, begins a friendship, and paddles a canoe. This camp is a favorite for staff and campers, alike.

The Rev.Marilyn Butler, Holy Trinity, Buhl, Idaho returns for her third summer as camp chaplain. Her daughter and grandson Laura and Nathan Kowalski enjoy this family time together. Marilyn and the children performed a wonderful play of the parable of the lost sheep.

Primary Camp (8 and 9 year olds)

Campers entering Grades 3 and 4 join in the excitement of going to camp on their own for the first time. Young voices singing around the campfire, at chapel or before meals reveal the innocence and the potential of this eager group of campers. The five-night camp is full of fun, games, and adventure and also makes time for quiet discussion, storytelling and make-believe.

Nancy Gedney, St. Mary's, Emmett, led the primary campers in making prayer bracelets and necklaces reminding us all about
how Jesus teaches us to pray. Everyone had an experience filled with the wonder of God's creation, friendship and loving community while playing on the shores and cabins of Payette Lake.

Intermediate Camp (10 and 11 year olds)

Watch out, here they come. By the time campers have reached Grades 5 and 6, they arrive at camp by the busload with energy and expectations. Eager to climb, to swim, to sing, and to “capture the flag”, intermediate campers grow to a better self understanding through the challenges of each day at camp. Sunrise to sunset, in worship or while island hopping, these campers bless Paradise Point with their joy and desire for life. Father Shawn Carty began each day with a morning homily on the beach, teaching us as Jesus did with His community. Jeanne Carty, Father SHawn's wife, joins us for a second year as the BEST health care provider.

Junior High Camp (12 and 13 year olds)

Campers entering Grades 7 and 8 come to camp for many reasons. Days filled with rope course challenges, river and lake canoeing, waterfront play and worship discussion and presentation, spill into nights of endless talk. As Jr. High Campers try to make sense of the world around them, they are also wondering about who they are and how they relate to each other. Discussions and teaching focused on conservation of and usage of water became This camp allows for the growing up and the growing closer to a god-filled, adult community.

High School Camp

Noticeably more self-aware and confident, campers entering Grades 9 through 12 come to camp knowing what they want to do. Opportunities to pursue individual interests, to take on leadership roles, and to create activities combine with the regular camp program. After evening campfire, high school campers enjoy “after hours” social time in a safe and supported atmosphere. The growing depth of understanding of nature, God and self are evidenced in the behavior and discussion of our newest group of Episcopal leaders

A camp for 14 through 18 year olds, Sophomore High campers will be challenged to step forward into who they are, the authentic self.

Mountain Adventure Camp

A group of 20–25 campers (7th Grade and older) and counselors, plan, prepare, and meet the challenge of this 5-day trek to an Idaho mountain summit. Carrying packs from 15 to 85 pounds and divided in small hiking groups this adventurous team experiences the wilderness as well as learns the necessary skills related to mountain climbing. Daily meditative worship has proven to be a highlight of this not-to-be missed camp.

"The Music echoes through the glacier tops
A choir of children, smiling, happy
A place where peace comes with a breath of air
A place where wildlif inhabitd your cabin first
A place where tranquility meets water by a sandy, lappy shore"

Anna Wilson
Salmon, Idaho - past campter, program assistant, and music major at Albertson College.
